Winter 2010 Newsletter
Dear Friends and Family,
Is it just us, or does Christmas sneak up on everyone?
It really does seem like only yesterday it was the Christmas
season of 2009. Rachel was 5 months pregnant and on a
modified bed rest. Her doctor left her no choice but to quit
her job as a teacher just two days after the school year
started earlier that year. The winter months were hard and
lonely for her. However, just like the coming of spring, all
things became new again. We welcomed into our family
Ezekiel Daniel Dell on April 9, 2010. “Zeke,” as he is
affectionately called in our family, has been a wonderful baby
since day one. He continues to bless us each day with his
smiles and laughs. There really is no greater gift we could
have asked for this year! In the words of Rachel’s favorite School House Rock song, “They had three in the family and that is a magic number!”
Although we are so blessed to have an addition to our family, along with such an addition comes added expenses. Even though it has always been our plan for Rachel to stay at home with our children, we were taken by surprise that Rachel would have to quit her job so early due to the pregnancy. We are now completely dependent on Peter’s income-our raised monthly missionary support. Your contributions, both monetary and prayer, are keeping us on the mission field. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our family and friends.
Perhaps you ask yourself, “What exactly does Peter do from Springfield, MO, that spreads the Gospel around the world?” Excellent question! Let us shed some light on that question.
First, it is important to understand all the different projects of which Peter is an important part. Peter is assigned to a ministry called Network 211 (pronounced twenty-one, one). Their campaign “Project 10Million” is to reach 10 million people with the Gospel online. One way they do this is through multiple evangelistic websites and online discipleship. One website that addresses emotional felt needs of internet users is JourneyAnswers.com. On this website, short videos discuss problems like emptiness, anxiety, guilt, death and many more. Each presentation ends with a Gospel presentation. When a visitor accepts the gift of salvation they can click a “Yes, I Prayed the Prayer” button that connects the seeker to the secure messaging system. This is Network211’s “121 Connections” system. It allows the seeker access to discipleship materials and encouragement from 121 Connectors, or volunteers, who correspond over this secure messaging system designed especially for Project 10Million.
Another huge aspect of Peter’s work is helping the local church and believers around the world. Global Christian Center (GlobalChristianCenter.com) is a website with thousands of resources for believers and also provides content that can be added to local church websites. By “local church” we mean any church, including yours! And by content we mean articles, devotions, music, videos and much more that can be “syndicated” to your church’s website making it look like it is from the church. This keeps web visitors on the church’s website and provides invaluable resources turning church websites into “web ministries”. Examples of the “syndicated” content can be seen on our website, InternetMissionary.org.
Returning to the question of how Peter’s work impacts the world for Christ, here are some statistics.
- There have been more than 140,000 who have clicked the “Yes, I Prayed the Prayer" button from over 200 countries. With more than 54,000 connected through our online discipleship.
- Currently, we have presented the Gospel online to more than 1.9 million people.
- For each donation of $100 to Network211. Peter is able to help 452 people to view the Gospel online with about 36 people “praying the prayer”, and our volunteer Connectors will communicate with about 14 of them.
The opportunity that the Internet provides in the spreading of the Gospel worldwide is dynamic and explosive. Will you help us? Your prayer support is vital. Your financial support will help us reach even more people. Because of increased expenses and the loss of some key suporters this year, we need to raise $1,000 in monthly support in order to continue the work God has called us to do. Remember your gifts are tax deductible. Please consider sending your gift today. Included is a pledge form to confirm your monthly support. These pledges are neded to help us continue full time ministry. Pray with us that our goal is met so we won’t have to step away from active ministry to fund raise full time.
May this coming year find you closer to the One who is the giver of all things.
Blessings from our family to yours,
Peter Rachel and Zeke
